Annual General Meeting

The last Annual General Meeting of the London Road Neighbourhood Association was held in the Theatre Gallery of the Lethbridge Public Library, on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

In addition to electing board members, a guest speaker from the City of Lethbridge presented pertinent facts from the Central Neighbourhoods Study. Study results can be found via the City of Lethbridge site (Home > City Hall > Departments > Development Services > Central Neighbourhoods Study).

A discussion also arose concerning a proposed third river crossing. While Tudor Estates and Popson Park have been discussed as options, a third option has not received wide media attention. This third option would not include the building of a bridge but a widening of 6th Avenue South to six lanes to accommodate increased traffic volumes. Clearly, this has strong implications for London Road Neighbourhood residents. A subsequent discussion arose concerning making Lethbridge more friendly to other non-motorized forms of transportation, specifically bicycles. Residents are urged to take political action and write letters to Council, and to attend all meetings about the proposed river crossing.

In addition to board functions such as elections, the AGM is a chance for all interested residents of London Road to meet their neighbours and receive an update on what has been happening in the neighbourhood during the past year. We highlight our year and then open the forum for member contributions, inquiries and concerns.

Memberships are also available. $5 buys you a lifetime membership to the Neighbourhood Association.

We enjoy meeting with you, the strength of our association!
